We found Alfonso because we had taken a foodie tour with his lovely sister Betsy earlier in the week. We booked this cooking class and it was beyond our expectations. Alfonso first took us to the market and we shopped for all of the ingredients to cook our memorable meal, then afterwards, we headed to his family home and kitchen. The class was totally hands on - which we loved! Alfonso's parents dropped in to introduce themselves, they were a delight! The recipes we created were amazingly tasty and we left with full bellies and a great understanding of how to re-create these recipes at home. This was one of our favorite activities on the trip and highly recommend Alfonso!

It was a fantastic experience cooking at Alfonso's house, definitely something you need to do if traveling to Oaxaca. You not only learn about the food but also about the culture which is so colorful and warm. We also enjoyed a lot meeting Alsonso's parents during the class, so kind and happy people. Definitely coming back to try out other recipes and learn more about the food and culture when we come back to Oaxaca!

WOW such an amazing class. From beginning to end we felt like part of the family. Enjoyed picking out fresh veggies at the market w/ Alfonso, meeting his parents, and cooking in his amazing location/kitchen!! The menu was delicious and we had TONS of vegetarian options to choose from. It was very hands on, we learned a lot, and it was easily one of the best cooking class experiences we've ever had in person or virtually. All covid precautions were taken and it was very sanitary. He offered Saturday classes which was uncommon when doing research for a cooking class in the area. 10/10 would recommend and come hungry because you'll need the room!

Excellent class! Instruction was very good and food was amazing! Pancho and his mom were very Covid conscious and we felt 100% safe at all times. We speak limited Spanish and were able to turn it into a Spanish lesson along with the cooking class. A perfect day for both my husband and me!

The class was everything we've wanted and more — professional, thoughtful, knowledgeable, personal, and fun. Highly recommended! Bonus: when shopping for ingredients at the market, I got to ask Alfonso all the questions I had about all the weird foods and drinks we've seen before but didn't know about (e.g. tejate).
