DO NOT RENT AT THIS LOCATION AT CANCUN AIRPORT, even if it's through the airlines. I was charged 4 times the amount I was confirmed to pay through an online reservation. I am STUNNED that the workers here could lie so boldly to me about the cost for insurance then TRIPLE the amount of taxes and fees upon returning the car. I made no damages, did not return late and filled up the gas tank more than the amount I received at pick up. I don't know how the workers at this company can hold their head up with pride. They are tarnishing their own reputation and destroying their own business. As a warning, my reservation confirmation states 63 including tases and fees minus insurance. The final charge on my card was 256!!!!!! 256!!!! And that was after placing a 404 hold for several days. How evil can a company be?

Was under 25, paid what I expected for underage fees. Like all reviews mentioning if you don’t want insurance they’ll put a 2500 hold on your card. Yes your credit card covers card insurance but do you really want to see that hold? If your on vacation and don’t want to spend vacation money, then why are you here. Gave 3 stars because they charged an additional 14 unexpected and the car obviously wasn’t cleaned at pickup let alone sanitized like other car rentals would do. Besides that got the deposit back a few days later and no issues post drop off.

The awful reviews are on point. Agent Ricardo Escobar and manager Salvatore Lara are woefully ignorant of international norms of customer service and business protocol. They insisted that we take out extra ‘mandatory’ insurance, insisted on my signing several homemade ‘addendums’ and ‘authorizations’, even a blank credit card form giving them carte blanche to charge my card and finally after more than an hour, refused to honor the transaction because my signature did not match the one on my decade old passport. They literally closed the store and left our family scrambling to find another rental car. It was a horrific way to start a vacation. There are several responsible car rental agencies that provide a smooth level of service and treat women and minorities well; this is not one of them. Budget needs to read these reviews and overhaul this location. Stay away at all costs. The awful reviews are valid and true.

I had a car reservation but never made it to the rent location. The tall skinny guy with acne face at the airport kiosk was horrible. He had us waiting over 25 minutes for a shuttle. I finally said adios and walked across the street where there are several other car rental places and I got a car. While I was walking away from the tall budget dude he literally was chasing us and grabbing at us and telling us it is illegal for us to walk out of the airport. He was crazy goes to show you how far they will go to keep you there. Total liar.

This place is horrible stay away from here at all costs. I originally rented a compact car for 130 for 7 days when I got there the representative tried pressure me into paying for car insurance. The first option was 1k hold on my credit card and upon return they would charge me 350 even if there's nothing wrong with the car, option 2 was 600 hold but it only covers 10% of the insurance damage, upon return they would charge an additional 450 and option 3 was 150 hold on my credit card but it covers nothing upon return of the car they would charge me 552 even if there's nothing wrong with the car. Finally option 4 was 2500 if I decided to decline one of the 3 options. I called the corporate office and they basically told me I was being robbed but because the office in Cancún is independent from them they couldn't do anything to help me. The representatives there were rude and basically if you don't take any of the 3 options they basically escort you back to the airport to be stranded. I had intentions of going to tulum I eventually paid 140 for a taxi shuttle to bring me there. Please do not rent cars from these people they're thieves trying to rob tourists. Mexican law says that insurance is already covered in the original price that we paid. Do not rent from them!

This place is a complete scam. They will say if you dont buy the insurance you must leave a deposit of 2500 US on a credit card. They will advertise 20 dollars a day in the airport and get you in the van take you to a office w your bags and that’s when your stuck. We are still waiting for our security deposit back after more than 2 months. You will pay over 200-300 us dollars no matter what they advertise in rental fees, insurance, security deposit. Good Luck and go elsewhere.

STAY AWAY!!!!! They use cars that are damaged and will claim any scratches to try and keep deposits and add charges . Make sure you have in writing or take a picture of the drop off time and date they will charge an extra day if you show proof of damages aren't your fault.

Terrible rental experience. First they wanted to give me a totally destroyed Renault Duster that smelled terrible inside saying it's the only SUV they had (I reserved a VW Tiguan). When I said I'm not taking it, they gave me Kia Sorrento immediately. The Kia Sorrento after some time started loosing a plastic shield on the bottom, which was very dangerous, especially on a highway. I had to go to the Budget office in Tulum and have this shield removed. Finally when I returned the car, they found some minor plastic damages in the bottom of the door. The car had scratches and dents on the doors when I took it. I'm pretty sure those minor damages were there too when I rented the car. On my credit card there was an extra charge of over 700 for that! I requested a repair report a few times, but got nothing. Do not use this company.
