Progreso is not safe with this police office. I was packing and cleaning the VRBO I was leaving when the commander ordered the door be broken open. When the host's husband offered time for me to continue packing the commander said no and that his officers must move my things. My irreplaceable gold necklace and gold & pearl ring were stolen. They took my shoes and glasses and refused to let me get them. They pretended to not understand my Spanish because of my accent. They threatened me with violence and one particularly gross man wanted violence to escalate, was looking for an opportunity to touch me, tried to intimidate me with handcuffs and took my phone when I tried to record the violence. No one would identify themselves by name. But everyone in the precinct KNOWS WHO I'M SPEAKING OF. Disgusting behavior. Abusive, Reckless, Repeatable. Not safe for anyone. Especially not a girl traveling alone.
