I love this place. The drinks are top notch and meet the standard of any top notch city including NYC and other expensive Western cities. The music and ambience are perfect and so is the service. They are being very safe with covid as well which is important to me. Highly recommended for couples, singles and special occasions. It is fancy so don’t come here and complain about the price. However, it is still less expensive than US standards (NYC, Miami, LA) for a luxurious place like this. And they have 2 for 1 drinks until 11pm everyday. That is unheard of in a place like this in expensive cities. Great value

If I can, I would give 0 star. I have been to the Sonora Prime in Monterrey, and it was a totally different experience from the one in Playa del Carmen. 1.\tI called them serval times try to make the reservation, no one answer the phone. When I arrived, the reception told me I need to make reservation and there is no availability today. However, I do find the availability on open table. 2.\tWe were led to a small rickety table, music is so loud, if you want a quit place to have dinner, here is not your place. 3.\tThe food is 20% more expensive than the Sonora Prime in Monterrey. 4.\tWe wait an hour to get our food. 5.\tThe waiter didn’t give me fork and knife even after our food is ready. I need to request it by myself. 6.\tWe ordered a medium rare Tomahawk. The steak is totally rare inside and overcooked outside. They should at least unfreeze the steak before cooking it. The waiter put our food on table and went away. We must wait him back to tell him the steak is totally rare inside. 7.\tWhen the waiter was back, we told him the problem, and he assisted this is medium rare, if we want, he can remake it as medium. When we got the steak again, it was same as the picture below. Do they really know how to cook the steak? 8.\tObviously, we didn’t have good dinner experience, and the waiters didn’t provide us any good service, so we decide to give only 5% tips (we gave 25% tips when we had dinner at Sonora Prime Monterrey as they did provide good food and service). When we paid for our check, the waiter directly asking 20% tips from us, which is ridiculous. My boyfriend said no, we will give 5%, and the waiter kept saying 20%.

Decent steak. We got the spinach with Alfredo sauce and the 400g Butcher's Signature center cut ribeye which comes with truffle fries. For dessert got the hazelnut crumble. They also bring you an assortment of 6 different salsas and chips, plus guava sorbet in a cone on the house. Everything was good, though nothing outstanding. I have high standards for steak as it's difficult for a restaurant to compete with they way I cook steak at home (USDA Prime Costco ribeye, salted 24 hours before on a rack in the fridge, then baked in an oven until 110F, then seared on a super hot cast iron pan on a gas stove while butter basting to get the perfect crust. Restaurants just don't have the time to cook steak that way.) But if you're in Playa and want a decent steak and a decent price, I think there's some value here if you order properly. I haven't tried Harry's next door yet which is also rated highly.

You'll be surprised when you walk in to Sonoma Prime as this is by far the nicest restaurant in PDC. And the vibe and music are both awesome. We order a few entrés which were all amazing. As for the steak we chose the Wagyu and the cooked it to perfection. Also it is brought to your table on a hot salt block which keeps it nice and hot. Definitely will be returning.

5 5 I rarely rate anything a 5 Star but Sonora Prime was amazing! We had the Ribeye Steak (which may have been the best steak we have ever had), raviolis, steak tacos and onion soup. Everything was outstanding. Great service. The Mixologist made delicious Bourbon drinks. Highly recommend!
