This must be a very nice place but always (Monday, Sunday) when I came here it was closed :( I think I give in for looking to get inside.

Wonderful museum in San Angel. The museum is huge and really cheap. There is a wide collection of religious art by mexican artists of colonial times. The crypt is a jewel with amazing frescoes and also well preserved mummies. Attach to the museum is a beautiful church with some astonishing domes.

I was very surprised to see that this convent has mummies that are very well preserved despite not going through a curing process, although there isn't alot of information about them other than being burried at the church and then dug up by soldiers looking for treasures but finding only bodies. The rest of the museum is equally impressive. Beautiful paintings and rooms where servant lived have now been converted to display areas. The garden although not fancy by any means is very well kept.

Visited the Mummys way back in 1970. Very interesting. I visit el DF quite often and hope to go back to museum on my next visit.

Beautiful colonial masterpiece. Make sure you take the guided tour. Such an interesting part of the History of México! Is a very large museum, many chambers and even a crypt with mummified corpses.
