Tasty and very affordable. Offers the typical 'comida corrida', the popular Mexican three-course daily. Great choice for eating alone. You have to feel comfortable being around strangers, though, as you will usually share table, water pitcher (sweet, fruit flavored) and tortillas with other people. Make sure your Spanish is up to the task or come along with a Mexican friend or two who can help. Also, remember most Mexican foodies are not usually very vegan- or vegetarian-friendly, e.g. most salads are added cheese, ham, tuna fish or some form of meat. This place in particular offers 'chiles rellenos' (jalapeno peppers stuffed with beans, ground meat or cheese) daily. Nevertheless, it often offers a veggie option for the main-course. Finally, service is not always the best, especially when it gets crowded. But hey, your whole meal is just a few bucks away and you won't be there for long. Put yourself up to the idea of spending at least five (if you can, of course), and then tipping away the difference with your check.
