To all of you who have made the move to Merida or are considering it, choosing your home is probably the most important decision you will make. I have happily lived here in Cholul for the past 12 years and for many of those years I imagined building my dream home. It was only this past year that I found the perfect land at the right price and took the plunge. I thought my experience finding an architect who also became my general contractor was worthy of sharing. Her name is Aida Traconis. She is the full package; talented in all areas of design, construction and landscaping and environmentally conscious. But most importantly Aida is a person who listens and puts her own ego aside to make sure your home is an expression of who you are. She was also recently recognized for her design work in the 20th edition of Interiores Mexicanos. There may be other architects mentioned amongst the ExPat community but do yourself a favour and make sure that Aida Traconis makes it to your short list. And welcome to Yucatan.
