Long pier in Progreso. Every one is friendly and helpful here. No problems with anyone here. I felt safe and secure at all times. Beautiful blue water. Lots of shops, tours, and things to look at in the terminal.

I enjoy visiting Progreso and touring the town have done this twice already, nice shops also.
Second time in Progreso, as I always tell future cruisers, PLAN AN EXCURSION. Great deals at the port stores, but if you don't pan something to do, its not actually worth the stop. The first time we went to Chichen Itza the second time we just shopped at the port and went back on the boat.
Docked aboard the Carnival Elation and disembarked for an excursion to Chichen Itza! Pyramid ruins are wonderful! We shopped for souvenirs here at Port before we got back on the Elations! Bling Blinky of Texas Shout Out: Go see Chichen Itza - Amazing Mayan. ruins in the Yucatán!!
What an experience we had. The transition on & off the ship was very smooth. We were greeted by the "natives" (wearing tribal dress attire...& of course, lookiing for donations) & bombarded by the local venders, calling out for our business. Going from "retail price tags" to bargaining for a deal was exciting !
We were portside for Carnival Valor. Very beautiful water and nice shopping areas. You can purchase authentic items, alcohol, and clothing.
Had a great time easy on and off and lots of good places to go shopping.
Small port with a duty shop and couple dozen small shops. Good spot for cheap drinks and relax. If you want anything more you will need to catch a taxi at least 4 miles in or BOOK AN EXCURSION EARLY.
