BEWARE! Dishonest company! Purchased a VIP first class ticket, but the boat we got didn't have a first class cabin. The attendant on the boat told us to go to the ticket window to get a refund for the difference. However, the managers at the window said they were not authorized to give us any money back. So they told us there was nothing they could do.

Ferry tickets are strangely cheaper on the Cozumel side. AND MUCH CHEAPER if you pay in pesos. If you're coming from Playa del Carmen, just buy a oneway ticket and purchase the return ticket on the Cozumel side. ONLY BUY YOUR TICKETS AT THE COUNTER. Not on the street. There are 3 ferries. All of them leave every hour. We went with Ultramar. It was late both times. You can sit inside or on the top deck outside. The water can be a little choppy so bring Gravol if you're sea sick. The ride is aprox 45 min, but getting your luggage afterwards takes a while.

Was a little tricky trying to find out who was being truthful in costs of tickets. But once done that was smooth. Ride was fun and Cozumel is worth going to see. Was talked into a car rental in the island and turned out to be a great decision so we could drift around island and sight see. Would do it again.

It is as good as a public transportation boat can be. Some waiting in line to board. If you're lucky to be the first ones on the boat you can get the air conditioned seats inside. If not, you're left outside burning up. I've always gotten calm water, so no sea sickness. About a 40 minute ride you can easily sleep away.

Choppy waters, fast boat. But what can you do if you want to travel from Cozumel to Carmen fast? It's to be expected but at least be ready. The trip is usually 30 minutes and goes quickly. Best to stay on the outside top deck and avoid staying inside during the ride, it'll help you!
