This is the spearfishing charter you want, whether you're brand new or have years of experience under your belt. Personally, I have one year of experience based out of the Pacific Northwest. Despite my lack of experience in Caribbean waters and the waters not being very fishy that day, I got 3 out of 4 shots I took that day. This level of success was mainly due to Matias and Santiago identifying my weak areas and tailoring the trip to help. The depths where deeper than what I usually dive and I had a hard time identifying the local fish. So as I did my breath up, Matias would dive down spot a fish and point to it. That way I could dive directly to the fish and not have to waste time looking around at the bottom. This enabled me to dive more efficiently and go deeper than usual. They were also very attentive to my activity and if I did anything differently from the usual behavior, they would check on me and wait for a verbal response or an \ok\ hand signal. This risk management was another reason I could dive deeper than usual. Lastly, and this one is for the ladies, there is absolutely no mansplaining or anything of the sorts. If you've got tons of experience, they will recognize it and if you never been spearfishing, they will teach you what you need to know in a manner that is genuine and respectful. I fell somewhere in between and experienced both situations.

Had an amazing trip! Neither of us had ever spearfished before but had a great time! The entire crew was great and Matias was a great teacher. They were all dedicated to making sure we had a successful first time spearfishing. The photography was awesome and not to mention the ceviche made with our fresh catch was the best I’ve ever had!! Would absolutely recommend and hope to go again with them.
Amazing experience. The entire crew (Matias, photographer, and captain) were all so personable, patient, accommodating, and fun! Also, the best ceviche you will ever have, so fresh and tasty. We can’t wait to come back for round two, worth every penny!
Mati and Santi were so awesome to go spearfishing with. They were very knowledgeable and made you feel at ease. You can definitely tell they know what they are doing. Spearfishing is tough but they are amazing at it. The ceviche Mati made at the end of the trip was the best my wife and I have ever had. If you want to go spearfishing while you are in Mexico, I would highly recommend them to anybody.
What an unforgettable experience with Mati and Santi. It was my first time spearfishing so I wasn't sure what to expect, but Mati and Santi are absolute pros. Watching them underwater guiding is a show in itself with their command of the ocean, the spearguns, and the camera. They laid out the safety protocols for the spearguns, the diving plan, and picked out amazing spots with the help of el capitan. Even if we hadn't speared a single fish, the freediving in the ocean and reefs around Playa is worth the trip. But we did! Our group came back with HorseEyed Jacks, Strawberry Grouper, Lionfish, Squirrel fish and a few others! On top of the amazing diving and spearfishing, Santi has an eye for underwater photography and includes an awesome set of shots documenting the whole experience in your package. There's more? Yup, afterwards they whip up some delicious sashimi and ceviche as you drink some beers and reminisce the fish you caught and the big ones that just got away! You won't regret booking with Mati and Santi.
