To start with...very expensive, seems a shortage of staff and food is awful. Make sure there is a family member always by your side cause pressing that button for a nurse takes forever or never comes. The only best part is the doctor who did my surgery is excellent...I would give him the 5 stars.
Worst service and expierence ever!!!!!! They don’t see you as a patient they see you as a sale and dollar sign, especially if you’re not from Mexico. The staff was rude and unprofessional. After blood was taken out there was blood all over the floor that was left there for all staff members to be stepping on, they looked down and didn’t mind the bloody floor. All the doctor worried about was money with minimal concern about the patient well being. They try to keep you there as long as possible to be adding to your account. Apparently the hospital nearby has an equipped facility with friendlier staff for a REASONABLE and affordable price. It was truly insane how much they were trying to charge for the work they did after asking for explanations of the cost the receptionist reacted very sarcastically and rude. Honestly save your time and money and go to a different hospital.
Administration is terrible. You must pay cash. Do not work with American insurance companies. We had an emergency and had no choice but to use Starmedica. After 3.3 million pesos bill (about 175,000.00 USA Dlls) we could only pay 90,000.00 USA Dlls so they forced me to sign the only property we have here. The hospital couldn't wait for the us to work with the American insurance and get reimbursed so we could pay them. We feel like hostages here in this hospital \you do not pay you do not leave\ attitude. There are other hospital here in Merida that are better and the cost is about 70% cheaper. We did not know!
Beware of paying this hospital with credit cards for doctor services. My wife had sutgery and I paid for the doctors with a credit card, the money being taken from my account same day. 9 days later my doctors have not been paid by the hospital, and when asked about it, they would not commit to when they would pay. Meanwhile, my doctors, understandably, don’t want to give me a receipt for insurance, until they get paid. THIS HOSPITAL TAKES YOUR MONEY AND DOES NOT APPLY IT WHERE THEY COMMIT TO, USING IT, WHILE YOU AND YOUR DOCTORS ARE LEFT IN THE LURCH.
