Three of us GEEZERS went fishing at Los Barriles early September 2019. We stayed at Van Wormer's 'Las Palmas de Cortez' resort and went fishing with Nic and Carlos of 'Los Barriles Sportfishing.' Two of us had fished the same bay in the early 1990s. So, we were excited. We had three days of fishing. We wisely had planned to be at the resort for four days. The second day scheduled for fishing, Nic recommended we not go - a little too windy. We really appreciated his advice. We caught Dorado one day. We caught Wahoo one day. And we tried for Rooster Fish, but that was not very productive. Oh Well! We enjoyed ourselves. We are planning Summer of 2020 trip now. Not sure will it will be, but the East Cape is always high on our list. A few pictures of the fishing, Carlos, the resort, and the beach.

Los Barriles Sportfishing made our trip this year. Carlos is an exceptional captain who is personable, fun but most of all, a true captain. He had us on fish the first half an hour we were out. We fished two full days and caught tuna, white bonito, pargo, pompano, marlin and of course, trumpet and needle fish! We have fished these waters numerous times with different captains but Los Barriles Sportfishing is who we will come back to. Nic, the owner, is awesome to work with when setting up the charter, really cool guy!
We fished two days with Captain Carlos. He was awesome. He is a real fish hunter. We were first to get bait and then he found the tuna. We got limits in a couple hours and the rest of the fleet followed us. The boat and gear were all top notch and in good working order. We fish regularly and good gear is essential. Captain Carlos was an extremely nice person to fish with. We would definitely fish with him again and recommend him to others. Looking forward to our next trip. Thank you. Dan and Lisa Little
Definitely a high class fishing operation! Captain Carlos will pick you up early and head straight to big fish. Booking through Nic was seamless and his advice where to stay and eat is top notch. We will definitely be back.
We fished with Los Barriles Sport fishing in June 2019. We had a great day with Captain Carlos. We caught a ton of fish, several had to be returned, but we also caught many keepers. We are looking forward to going back sometime soon..
I’ve fished with Capt Carlos twice and had great results each time. Once in May with a Flyrod only and got many roosters in the 5lb category and of course I blew the grande opportunity for a 30lb. Also many other species. Next trip was early April and the Bite was skipjack and white bonito which we’re plentiful. Looking forward to this May
Their center console is a FISHING MACHINE! Nic has hired one of, if not, the best captain in East Cape. Carlos is a fishing machine and an all around great guy with a fun personality. Carlos knows how to put you on the fish!!!
Had an opportunity with a group of guys to fish with Nic and his crew. Nic arranged multiple boats for us and helped us find a shuttle to and from CSL. His communication was great. It was our first time fishing is LB and Nic made the trip memorable. My of my friends hauled in a 55lb bull Dorado! Would recommend Nic for anyone looking for a trip in LB.
